Off*Beat 3: The 100 Letters Campaign [CLOSED]

Welcome to the Off*Beat Letter Campaign! It's been over a year since this campaign first started, and since then we have sent dozens of letters through Tokyopop's email and fax, letting the company know how much we would like to see the last volume of Off*Beat get published.

If you would like to contribute to this campaign, simply send an email through to Tokyopop's customer service email, which you can find
here, or to their publishing department here, or to their general email address here.  To send up to two free faxes a day to Tokyopop's office, go to this website and simply follow their directions. Tokyopop's fax number is 323.692.6701.

Also, please post here to notify us that you have sent off a letter. If you don't have an account to Livejournal, posting anonymously is fine. I would like to keep track of how many letters that have been sent off so far. You can post your letter here too, if you would like!

36/100 letters have been sent.

EDIT :APRIL 2011
Hey guys! I just wanted to say thank you all for doing this, for putting your time and dedication in for this series through this campaign! Unfortunately our efforts went unheeded, as Tokyopop has dissolved and we will never see volume 3 getting a release under their publishers. Perhaps a shining light from this though, is that Jen will (probably) getting the rights back to her book, no longer keeping it in the indefinite hiatus clutches of the fallen Tokyopop empire.
Thank you everyone for your participation!

I sent one! Anything to help. I told them I wouldn't support their company until the final volume comes out-- not too much of a sacrifice considering I barely read manga anymore, but hey, they don't need to know that! :)

Heh, that is great. I've seen other people boycotting TP across the internet, relating to their policies on hiatus and dropped books. So it might be more of an impact towards them than you think!

I just sent my letters!!! Don't forget to remind them that Off*beat won an award for Volume 1 (thus I called it the "award winning" Off*beat!!)... a silver medal in 2005 for "Best Graphic Novel" from Foreword Magazine.

Yeah, I was sure to mention that in my letter as well, to remind TP that they are dealing with quality work.
Thanks for participating!

Hey guys! It's awesome to see that someone has put together a way to organize against Tokyopop's delay of the last book. You can bet I'll be sending them a letter soon.

I just wanted to suggest perhaps using faxes instead? It's a lot harder to ignore a fax than an email. For example, you don't even have to open an email to delete it, but you have to look at a fax to throw it away.

Here's a site that I've used before to protest stuff. It lets you send up to 2 free faxes a day: http://faxzero.com/

Good luck, everyone!

Ooh, I never thought about faxing them. I'll post that up now, with their fax information so people can start sending them in. Thanks for the idea! 8)

Okay, that is great!
You don't actually need a fax machine to send a message off. The spaces with the asterisks beside them are the only fields that need filling. n_n

Although I haven't sent mine yet, I'm gathering people from deviantart to get involved in this. And I think it's working. So, I'll keep doing what I can to get people to know about this...

January 29 2009, 00:45:58 UTC 3 years ago

There are a lot more people who did this. I know I sent the message out to at least 20-30 people... i just think that they didn't message on here though. but yeah, mostly everyone i sent it out to replied that they were going to do it. except for like 2 or 3...

[info]rosebud_tea

January 29 2009, 01:28:55 UTC 3 years ago

Woah seriously, 20-30? That's awesome.

I would love to count it, but saying that you're going to write a letter isn't the same as actually writing a letter. I'm going to have to wait for their actual conformation that they've sent something in.

Email sent ~

I just sent an email to their customer service ^^
I spread the news on my website too, I hope many visitors will write a moving email on how French fans are as dying to know what happens in the 3rd volume as you guys from the US are ^_~ Fans throughout the world, unite !
I'll let you know if there are more to add to the status count :P
BTW, did any of you get a reply to their letter ?

Re: Email sent ~

Thanks again for posting info on your scanlation website.
I'm actually Canadian myself, so I suppose that makes it an even broader multinational effort 8D
As far as I know, nobody has received a word of a reply. I wasn't really expecting that they would, but I'll keep an eye out in case.

Sent an e-mail

I send an email! I love Off*Beat, and would love to have it back. Consider yourself with 14 out of 100 emails off to Tokyopop! I send it to customer service, and to Tokyopop in general. :) Short, sweet, to the point, and non-aggressive.

Thanks for existing! (My dA name is Rainbow-man. :D)

it takes a lot to warrant an official-esque complaint from a fence-sitter like me, but I have become sufficiently annoyed and will be sending - at the very least - an email, this weekend.

will update w/ status later, hopefully.

Tokyopop continues to find new and exciting ways to make my life more miserable, inch by inch. :(

I don't know if my reply for this went through or not (it was my first time replying through hotmail, and the reply didn't show up here, but it could have been sent to your inbox or something, so sorry if you get it twice ._.)

You don't need a fax machine to send a fax through the webpage, and the fax number they do ask for isn't a requirement. All that's needed is an address.
Thanks (again?) for sending your email!

Re: Woo

Thanks so much!
I think as long as we keep reminding Tokyopop that people want to read this, it helps out 8)
